What is MancsLab?

MancsLab sells veterinary rapid tests for home use to dog and cat owners, breeders, shelters and veterinary clinics. The tests screen for parvovirus, Giardia, heartworm, distemper, canine coronavirus, feline parvovirus (panleukopenia), FIV/FeLV, FIP and the Lyme disease pathogen carried by ticks. The result can be read in 5–10 minutes.

How does the test work?

Mix the sample (stool, blood, discharge or tick) with the buffer provided, then put a few drops on the test cassette. Read the result after 5–10 minutes; after 15 minutes it is invalid. The C (control) line must always appear; if the T (test) line is also visible, the result is positive. In detail: How it works

What a rapid test can't do

  • A rapid test is a screening tool: it gives quick orientation, but it is not a diagnosis and does not replace a veterinary examination.
  • If the result is positive, always see a vet.
  • A negative result does not rule out every infection. Giardia cysts, for example, are shed intermittently, so a single negative sample does not rule out an infection.
  • After successful Giardia treatment the antigen can remain detectable for a while, so a rapid test right after treatment is not meaningful.
  • With warning signs (bloody diarrhoea, repeated vomiting, severe lethargy, dehydration – especially in puppies and kittens) don't wait for a test: take the animal to a vet immediately.

Shipping and returns (EU)
