CPV/CCV/Giardia – Triple Diarrhoea Rapid Test for Dogs

When a dog has diarrhoea, the three most common pathogens are parvovirus, canine coronavirus and Giardia. Their symptoms are similar but their treatment is completely different — this kit tests for all three from a single stool sample.

    When is the test recommended?

    • Diarrhoea with no known cause
    • Recurring bowel problems or problems lasting for weeks
    • Vomiting and diarrhoea at the same time in a puppy
    • When a new dog arrives, as a screening test
    • In multi-dog households when one animal falls ill
    • For breeders, before handing over a litter

How does it work? Three steps

    1. 1

Collect a fresh stool sample with the swab provided, or take a rectal sample.

    2. 2

Mix the sample in the buffer solution provided, then add it to the sample well of the cassette as described in the manufacturer's instructions.

    3. 3

Read the result after the time stated in the instructions. There are three separate test lines: CPV, CCV and Giardia.

    Reading the result

Rapid test positive result: control line and test line visible

    Positive

The test line that appears shows which pathogen is positive — more than one is possible. Even a faint line is positive. A positive parvo result needs immediate veterinary care.

Rapid test negative result: only the control line visible

    Negative

None of the pathogens detected. Virus and cyst shedding is intermittent, so if symptoms persist repeat the test within 2–3 days or see a vet.

Rapid test invalid result: no control line

    Invalid

No control line, so the result cannot be interpreted. Repeat the test with a new cassette.
